Secretary Claude A Swanson 77 died at Rapidan Va ending a 44 year public life including 23 years in the Senate and one term as governor of Virginia. Policeman Mortally Struck by Striking WPA Crowd
Minneapolis July 10 A patrolman who helped rescue a non striking WPA worker died late tonight from the strain after being beaten by angry strikers. Patrolman John G. Gearty 40 died of coronary sclerosis after the incident. Officer Paul Larson said Gearty was pummeled by at least six men while trying to load Frank Fischer 45 a WPA worker onto a street car.
