Funeral services were held in Missoula for T. K. Baker 30 who died January 15. Pallbearers named Aubrey Knowles Robert E. King John F. Patterson Edward Sharp Percy Banister and Clayton Crocker. Burial followed in Missoula cemetery. Born June 29 1871 in Paducah Kentucky he graduated Northwestern University Evanston Illinois. His first marriage to Frances Shelby produced a daughter Mary Elizabeth Smith. He married Edna Galloway in 1912. they lived in Big Timber 1915 and Missoula since 1932. He represented Western Life Insurance of Helena since 1912. Survived by widow daughter and sister Mrs F B Wilkinson of Cadiz Kentucky.
Mrs Helen Deeney was readmitted to Community Hospital on Tuesday for medical treatment.
The Allers plan to rename Old Kaintuck on the Boulder River to Allers Boulder River Ranch for advertising, while asserting the change will not affect ranch traditions or operations. The historic site, tied to 50 years of western hospitality, sits along the main Boulder river with roots dating to early pioneer days.
Jim Annin of the Montana Republican central committee will be the principal speaker at a Lincoln day dinner at the Legion hall on Monday February 11 at 7 PM. Arnold Johnson chair of Sweet Grass county central committee said Annin is highly qualified to discuss issues of interest to voters. Dinner costs $2 per plate. reservations via Mrs C F Ullman or The Pioneer office.
Mr and Mrs Jacob Richter and their children Alfred 18 and Welfrieda 10 arrived in Big Timber yesterday and will live on the Louis Grosfield ranch where Mr Richter will work. They fled eastern Germany ahead of Russian occupation after two years in Allied resettlement camps and later emigrated to the United States under the displaced persons program. Mr Richter served two years in the Romanian army before moving to eastern Germany about 25 years ago.
The National Rifle Association grants Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club a sectional indoor smallbore shoot set for April 18 19 20, one of 30 nationwide first held this year. About 80 riflemen from four states expected for the two day Yellowstone Valley tournament February 23 24 as a registered event.

Lloyd Rein guides a Ford V-8 four wheel drive pickup while Donald Haas pilots a Dodge Power Wagon and Bud Ward rides a Willys Jeep, all attempting the final hill obstacle before continuing to the Mydland crossing.

Word reached this week of the Jan 16 death of J Alexander Irvine 71 a longtime Big Timber resident. He died of a heart ailment in a Los Angeles hospital. Born in Macduff Scotland he came to Livingston then Big Timber with his parents whose Irvine building housed the Coast to Coast store. He and his sister Maggie survived and lived in Los Angeles since the early 1900s.
Elected captains Joe Widdicombe and Jim McCauley were chosen as co captains of the 1951 52 Sheepherder basketball team by a players ballot.
Big Timber soldiers past Absarokee 44 38 after a tight contest as Blakeley led Absarokee with 19 points. In Billings, Big Timber beat Billings Central 38 37 in a defensive struggle sealing a key Class B southern Montana victory.
Mrs. Homer Wheeler hosted relatives for E H Ellingson’s 80th birthday with attendees from Big Timber and Bozeman. Ellingson, a courthouse custodian and Big Timber police magistrate, traces Sweet Grass County pioneer roots dating to 1881 with extensive local service and community roles.
