Route urged for northern Montana interstate segment
Montana High way Commission heard calls to route the Billings to Livingston leg north of the Yellowstone River. Yellowstone Valley Protective Assn and Montana Farm Bureau favored the north route over the protested south alignment along U S 10. Chairman Burns defended cautious planning and pledged no condemnation without court action, noting ranch access and underpasses as needed for a four lane highway.

Federal funds approved for Big Timber sewer project
The U S health education and welfare department will share the $51 901 cost of a proposed sewer outfall line and oxidation pond in Big Timber. Conservation Group Holds Annual Meet
The Sweet Grass County Soil Conservation District held its annual meeting at the American Legion hall with a noon lunch. H W Reik spoke on supervisor duties and conservation programs while Dr W F Clark discussed conservation today and the scope of federal and state groups. Rasmus Boe and Ward Bruffey were elected to three year terms. The district report lists 1957 practices by 197 cooperators, including grass use, deferred grazing, seedings, crop rotation, drainage, and irrigation improvements. The group also funded four high school youths to the Wildlife Jamboree and a conservation camp for a student.

Davis Golden Anniversary Missed as Illness Delays Plans
Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Davis marked their 50th wedding anniversary in Billings with friends sending greetings after Mr. Davis fell ill on January 3. They later received a television set as a gift. Davis, who retired in 1940, had moved to Big Timber from Billings where he worked 30 years as a switchman in the NP yards. The couple married November 25, 1907 in Independence Missouri.

Death of Clyde T. Jarvis Jr in Billings Hospital
Clyde T. Jarvis Jr aged 24 son of Clyde T. Jarvis and wife of Livingston died Sunday morning in a Billings hospital from leukemia after about a week as a patient. Born May 5 1955 in Big Timber he was the father a former Grey Cliff school teacher. Funeral services were held at 3 p m yesterday at the Assembly of God church in Livingston.
