MSC judging team member from Shawmut heads to Denver
Bozeman Lloyd Berg, a senior animal industry major at Montana State College, is one of six on MSC's junior livestock judging team traveling to Denver for the National Western Stock Show on January 15 and 16. Thomas L. Anderson of Melville Montana a member of the 148th transportation detachment helped sponsor a Christmas party for orphans near Nellingen Germany. The helicopter mechanic joined the Army last February trained at Fort Ord and arrived overseas last August. He is a 23 year old 1954 graduate of Sweet Grass County High School.

Lamach Earns Division Honor Aboard USS Midway
Marine Lance Cpl. Corwin R. Lamach of Big Timber Montana is awarded division of the month for December while serving with the Marine detachment aboard the attack carrier USS Midway in the Western Pacific. The Midway operates with the U S Seventh Fleet as sea‑going Marines provide orderlies security and guards and man two gun mounts and honor duties for dignitaries and special occasions.

Mrs. Clive Haas will lead a new Mother's March against crippling birth defects arthritis and polio in Sweet Grass County as part of the March of Dimes campaign. Arrangements are complete for a county wide 4 H recognition day to be held Friday evening at the American Legion hall. Teen-age New Year's party costs shared by nine groups
The second successful teen age New Year's Eve party expenses were pro rated among nine participating organizations led by Tope Strobel civic affairs chairman for the Moose lodge. He thanks the Lions Jaycees American Legion Auxiliary Masons Eastern Stars Knights of Pythias Women of the Moose the high school Rev and Mrs Helmuth Fichtler chaperons and kitchen committee. A recruiting team from the 8th Rifle Company USMCR and the US Marine Corps Recruiting Service will be in Big Timber on January 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interviews for prospective applicants to the US Marine Corps Reserve and the USMC will be conducted. Funeral services for Lydia Cathern Sewell 83 who died in a Billings rest home Tuesday will be at 10 a m Saturday from the Lowry Chapel. She was born May 10 1876 in Somerset Kentucky and married William Madison Sewell May 2 1899. Survivors include son Robert B. Sewell Venice California and seven grandchildren.

Silver Wedding Anniversary of Dr and Mrs Olness
Sunday evening honored Dr and Mrs Ben Olness on their 30th anniversary with 30 guests at their home. Karl Bryan hosted a silver dollar tribute with verses by Mrs Robert Simmons as Linda Olness teaches music in Hardin and son Fred serves at a San Diego Navy base. The couple wed January 15 1935 in Kansas City Kansas and lived in Billings before settling in Big Timber Montana where Dr Olness started a law practice after dental work.

Carl Edgar Fulkerson, born April 10 1883 in Coldwater Michigan, died Friday in Downing Nursing Home Corvallis Oregon. Funeral services are Wednesday at 2 p m at McHenry Funeral Home Corvallis. he had retired from state forestry work in April 1955 and had no survivors.
