Norwegian worker John Gjerde dies in town
John Gjerde a native of Norway died at H C Allens residence from congestion of the lungs. He had worked for Jacob Hoyem of Howie for eighteen months and sought medical help three weeks earlier. He was about twenty one and was buried in the local cemetery with Rev. Erickson officiating.

Bars Found on Rails West of Boulder River Bridge
Two angle bars were found on separate rails west of the Boulder river bridge by W. A. Harrison and reported to Agent W. J. Haynes. Detective Goddard concluded the bars likely were placed by children and that early publicity hindered capturing any culprits. The incident sparked talk of an attempted derailment, though no responsible person was identified.

Montanians among victims in freight train wreck
A Detroit Minnesota dispatch dated December 29 reports three stockmen killed and four injured when a pusher engine crashed into a halted stock train near Winnipeg Junction. The dead include A. R. Russell of Harlowton and John Frese of Livingston, Montana. injuries listed include several Lat Mont men and a New Jersey man. Russell was foreman at the G. R. Wilson ranch in Harlowton and his death was mourned by Big Timber residents.
