Lola Keener of Rapelje suffered severe burns after falling into a fireplace on December 6 while alone at the Leo Cremer ranch. She was taken to Big Timber for treatment where surgeons, led by Dr. Rodes E. Yager, amputated her left arm below the shoulder on the following Thursday. She is reported doing well.

Nine Prisoners Freed by Montana Pardon Board Christmas

Billings Hit-Run Fatality Identified Man
A man estimated 55 identified as Carl Nordlund was struck by a high speed hit-and-run driver on Montana Avenue near Terry Avenue at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was hurled 75 feet and died en route to a hospital. Eyewitnesses say the motorist sped away westward after the crash.

Former Ohio Republican Senator Simeon D. Fess died of a heart attack in Washington on December 23 at age 75. He was preparing for a Christmas reunion with his son Charles S. Fess when the attack occurred. funeral services were tentatively set for Saturday in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
