Christian Rural Overseas Program Organization Formed at Meeting

The Christian Rural Overseas Program was organized at St. Joseph's Church Monday noon. Chairman P. C. Wolframski presided. Orvin Flare elected ice chee. Officers include Mrs. Frank Chase secretary and R. Tolson treasurer. Community chairs named for several creeks and towns. Plans discussed to gather a carload of horses for Christmas shipment to Kansas City for overseas canning of horse meat under the CROP.

Legion Loses Two Thrillers This Week

Big Timber Legion drops two tight games as Billings Shadoans win 39 to 36 and Lewistown Chips prevail 56 to 52 on back to back nights. Herb McCauley leads scorers with 16 points in the first game while Bill Ellison adds 5.

Royal Neighbors Hold Christmas Party in Riverview Camp

Royal Neighbors held its December Christmas party at Riverview Camp 4413 with about 75 attendees. Grace Ellison and others led a program including recitations, a tableaux, songs, a reading, and a Santa visit by Mrs Theo Olson. A pot luck lunch followed, and a Christmas basket drive was organized for a local family. George H. Price left for Alameda after a 26 day navy leave and will transfer to Guam.

Funeral Services Held For C. T. Williams

Claude T. Williams died suddenly last week. Services were held at the Congregational church with Rev. P. N. Bennett officiating. Interment followed at Bozeman with American Legion graveside honor. Williams, born 1890 in Melford Ohio, served in World War I earning a Silver Star. He moved to Montana in 1919 joining the Northern Pacific railway and later became a Bozeman agent. He is survived by his widow Iona Blackwood Williams and a brother Walter Williams.

Cecil Carl of Big Timber was admitted to Park hospital today for surgery. Stores will open evenings from Saturday through next Thursday, closing at 6 PM on Christmas Eve. Mrs. Tom Mahan and children from Fort Riley, Kansas, visit her parents in Helena. H C Olson, former local principal, works in education for the Frankfurt government. his family joins him there. St Joseph’s choir broadcasts Sunday at 3 PM from Livingston. a Christmas midnight mass transcription airs Christmas Day at 3 PM. Dinner guests at Mrs. Susanna Rostad’s home include her sons Peter and Clarence Rostad and their families, plus Mrs A M Warila of Billings and Cra ne Bob and Karen of Metaline Falls. Girl Scout troop 4 hosts a Christmas party with cocktails, chicken and noodles, salad, lemonades, and a Christmas tree with carols.

Sheepherders Start Hot Then Slump In Varsity Schedule

The Big Timber Sheepherders lost two straight to White Sulphur Springs and Wilsall before sweeping Absarokee 41 to 28. They begin a three-game home stretch next week versus Manhattan on the 18th, Cone on the 21st, and Gardiner on the 23rd.

Christmas Carnival Great Success at Grey Cuff School Benefit

The Grey Cuff school benefit Christmas carnival drew a near 1200 gross with over 600 net. Prize winners included Phil Cummings taking a Shetland pony and $100 cash, Ludwig Drange for the pinto horse and colt, Harry Wagner for a vanity set, and Speed Cummings with Herman Utermohle sharing 273 pennies. Duane Braaten won a goose. Elmer Thompson $5 in pie eating. Auctions moved many prizes, with Oscar Braaten as auctioneer.

Christmas Party Invitation at Cedar Creek School

Cedar Creek school extends an invitation to its Christmas tree party on Christmas Eve Friday. The event promises a festive gathering with games singing and readings in the school auditorium. About 530 guests attended a wedding shower event for Mr and Mrs Raymond Bieber hosted by the Young Adult class of the Evangelical church that same evening in the church basement.

The Boy Scouts' paper drive to Billings raised funds with Haul Paper owner Paul Van Cleve donating the truck and H. H. McIntyre aiding unloading. load netted 4.86. Community groups include Pink and Blue Shower for Mrs. John Duffey, Young Adult class events at EUB church with officers elected, Zenobia Temple officers elected, Bridger Creek Club meeting, Eastern Star officer elections, and notes on members’ greetings, 4-H club organization, and upcoming holiday events.

Scouts Present Program At Parents Night Court of Honor

The Boy Scout parents night program was held in the high school gym with strong attendance. Scouting colors were presented by Chuck Bray Bernard Lamach Daniel Murphy and Dale McLane and the flag salute opened the ceremonies. A troop court of honor followed with advancement recognitions. Rostads To Go To Honduras

Mr and Mrs Ora H Rostad and children Bob and Karen of Metaline Washington visit relatives in town before traveling to Coos Bay Oregon Eugene Oregon and a plane trip to Honduras for Ora to work as geologist. He will join Newar and Honduras Rosario Mining Company about 20 miles from the capital at 6000 feet for about a year and a half.
