Big Timber voters urged to approve Montana Power franchise
An editorial urges Big Timber residents to vote next Tuesday in a franchise election for Montana Power Co to continue delivering natural gas. The 50 year renewal would let the company construct and operate gas mains and facilities in public places with rates set by the state Public Service Commission. Polls open from 12 noon to 8 pm at the Fire Hall and the courthouse. the company covers election costs.

Hi Brown Found Dead in Hotel Room
Hiram Wade Brown aged 84 was found dead in his Grand hotel room likely from natural causes related to age. Funeral services were held at Lowry Chapel with Rev Ocee Johnson officiating and burial at Mountain View. Born August 27 1876 in Natick Massachusetts he moved to Montana forty years ago and worked as a blacksmith carpenter and ranch hand. He had no known close relatives though several nieces and nephews live in the Boston area.

Carrie Vickery 91 of Bridger died Friday in a Billings hospital after four months as a patient. Funeral services were held at Olcott Funeral Home Red Lodge with Rev. Gene Robinson officiating. Burial followed in Clark Wyoming. Survived by five daughters, three sons, a sister and a brother, plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime Montana resident and church and veterans group member.

Lamach Child Killed By Oil Tanker In Big Timber
Evelyn Marlene Lamach six year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Lamach died of head injuries Monday at the Community hospital after being struck by a oil tank trailer at the Anderson street intersection with the highway. Sheriff Kenneth Thompson and Trooper Dick Henthorn investigated. The driver Chas T Bowman Idaho Falls said he did not know of the accident until chased by the patrolman nine miles east of Big Timber. Coroner's inquest set for 7 30 pm. She was born March 26 1954 in Columbus and is survived by parents two brothers and three sisters and a grandmother.

Laurel Youth Killed in Reed Point Deer Trip
Three Laurel teenagers headed for a deer hunting trip in the Reed Point area were in an icy accident on highway 10. Duaine Albert Colbrese, 15, died after the car overturned and pinned him under it. Lance Armstrong, 16, was treated at Stillwater Memorial Hospital and Jerry Kinney, 14, was admitted with severe bruises. Police say lack of seat belts contributed to the injuries and possible death. Funeral services were held at St. Anthony's in Laurel for Colbrese, a Laurel High freshman and Boy Scout.
