The county fair closed to record crowds with ideal weather and rising excitement. Friday's grandstand overflowed as about 1,500 spectators filled the grounds while the ladies relay event entertained and the Floral Hall, grain, and garden displays impressed judges.
Seventy five men are sought to work on the water works construction in Big Timber. Apply at the Hanly Construction Co. office on McLeod Street.

County High School restarts Monday with an improved program and a larger library including many supplementary history books and a Britannica encyclopedia set. English division also expands its reading materials and all teachers return enthusiastic for the new term.
Sweet Grass county selects Miss Margaret Harper of Fish Creek for a free scholarship at the College of Montana. President Eaton approved the award covering normal academic or collegiate departments. Harper, a former pupil of County Superintendent Mrs. Forewald, will depart for Deer Lodge in September to pursue studies and bring honor to the county.
Big Timber town council creates a Fire District covering blocks between the railroad and Hooper street with Third avenue and Anderson street as boundaries. Builders must file petitions with plans and seek council permission before erecting any structure, otherwise a misdemeanor carrying up to $100 fine or 30 days in jail. The ordinance awaits ratification by the people.
