Absarokee plant to boost Montana Power gas pressure
A 1,200 horsepower compressor station is under construction two miles east of Absarokee Montana by Montana Power to maintain pressure on the Dry Creek to Butte transmission line. The site will host two 600 horsepower units and dispatch duties, with operation expected by December 1.

Girl Scout troop No 4 spent four days at the Big Timber Creek Ranger Station with leaders Mrs Clarence Loftsgaarden and Mrs Ross Snyder. The group cooked swam hiked and learned camp crafts earning firebuilding outdoor cooking and camp craft badges plus new foot travel miles. Four Big Timber delegates returned home with Jack Armstrong named state auditor candidate by the Pioneer party. Armstrong credited his name for the win by a 10 vote margin and earned a basketball ribbon while Teddy Clark and Bill Hoskinson participated in basketball as well. The group heard lectures from Governor John Bonner and Attorney General Olson, toured Virginia City, and followed strict no dressing rules during the event.

Visitor Spent Eight Months In China
Mrs Stella Dorrer arrived Sunday for a visit with her sister Mrs Earl Green Sr en route from Chicago to San Francisco. She spent eight months in China and seven weeks in Chicago with her son John Dorrer. Dorrer visited Hong Kong last summer and spoke of wartime conditions, poverty, and rebuilding efforts, noting visa delays and limited access to mainland China due to fighting. She found some fine linens but few souvenirs and plans to return to San Francisco via Portland.

California Man Falls to Death in Rock Creek Lake Crevice
O E Rolstad 56 of National City Calif died Friday after falling into a crevice caused by an ice cap break at Rock Creek lake Crazy mountains. His son Donald and Jim Gibson aided, hauled the body to a ledge, then two miles by stretcher and two by horse to Livingston for shipment. Residual single survivor and kin noted.
