Last Rites For Mrs Hoskinson In Portland Funeral
Mrs. Helene Lucille Hoskinson 54 wife of Scott Hoskinson died August 12 in a Portland Oregon hospital after open heart surgery. Born July 6 1910 in Bozeman she lived in Molt Big Timber and Bozeman on to work in county offices. Survivors include her husband a daughter Sylvia Rice Billings two sons Williams Hoskinson Miles City and Tom Hoskinson stationed with the Navy Corpus Christi Texas mother Rose Coles Big Timber sister Stella Fischer Columbus ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Lowry Chapel with Rev T E Nelson officiating. Interment Mountain View.

Big Timber Wins Water Carnival At Hunter’s Hot Springs
The Water Carnival at Hunter’s Hot Springs awards Big Timber the grand trophy for town with the most points at 356. Harlowton finished second with 117, Livingston 122, Springdale 112, Clyde Park and Wilsall also scored. AAU swimmers invited Springdale’s Judy and Jim Johnson to join the Montana AAU team. Over 200 people attended the meet hosted by Mr and Mrs Harold Johnson. Individual trophies went to each town. results to be printed next week.

Red Cross Water Safety Course Planned by Five River Chapter
The Five River Chapter announces a Red Cross water safety and first aid instructor course set for August 24 to 28 at Hunter's Hot Springs. Elliott Converse says it is led by Leonard Green and Harold Smith with sessions 9 am to 12 pm for water safety and 1 pm to 4 pm for first aid. Applicants must be 18 or 20 depending on track, with mature qualifiers, and may contact the Bozeman chapter office or call 587 4611.

Advance registration for first grade will be held August 27 28 in the large first grade room at the public school. Parents are asked to bring birth certificates and health certificates. Children who will be six by October 15 are eligible to attend.

The annual 4H and FFA auction sale sponsored by the Big Timber Jaycees drew strong bidding Saturday night. Top entries included Margaret Lavold’s 1065 pound fat steer sold for 40 cwt to Big Timber Farm Supply and Lynn Adams’ 105 pound top lamb sold to Bob Hanson of Nebraska for 40 cwt.

A granite marker was erected Sunday on the Main Boulder across from Allen's Boulder River Ranch to honor Edward N. Adam and mark a Bannack Indian War maneuver site.
