Ed Holmberg of Big Timber captured the Northwest U S AAU championship in Helena with a 7-0 record in class A. Art Olsen of Helena finished second at 5-2, followed by Art Micklick of Billings and Norm Scheckloth of Helena. Ken Boe of Livingston won class B with no losses in the event, the region’s largest tournament with 44 contestants.

City Club Lanes will reopen next week after a full remodel. Brunswick machines with high speed returns and telescorers replace old equipment. New rest and locker rooms and an elevated lounge overlook the lanes. Art Sell leads the lanes, Ed Sell runs the lounge with Julie Etzold assisting. Clarence Erickson built the carpentry, Clark's Plumbing handled tile and wiring.

Utah Auto Theft Revealed After Accident
Clifford John Frazier, 26, was cited for reckless driving after a highway 10 east collision near Work Creek. He admitted the 1964 Convair he drove was stolen in an armed Utah robbery and said he robbed a man there. He received hospital treatment for bruises and facial cuts before jail. Occupants of the other vehicle included Mr. and Mrs. Steven Zirko and family with a trailer. A hitchhiker in the Frazier car was unhurt.

Mr and Mrs Robert C Johnson celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary with an Aug 23 open house from 2 to 4 pm at their East 4th Street home. About 70 friends attended as two daughters Mrs L L Reeves and Mrs W J Hubber helped host. The couple have spent the entire 50 years in Big Timber and married May 12 1914 in the Congressional parsonage.
