Pioneer photographer Paul Dix completed a 40 plus mile cross country journey from Hells Canyon Campground to Cooke City. The 2½ day trek ran two pleasant days with sun and one harsh day of wind and snow through Independence Pass Slough Creek Abundance Lake and Daisy Pass.
Seven Big Timber churches join at Big Timber Lutheran Church for a noon to 3 pm Community Good Friday Service themed Steps to Calvary. The program divides into seven segments with interludes and special music, featuring ministers from Assembly of God, Evangelical Church of North America, St. Josephs Catholic, Church of God, Lutheran, St. Marks Episcopal, and Congregational churches.
A nine hole Overland Golf Course east of town gains final authorization from the Denver Bureau of Outdoor Recreation. Kenneth Olson says the project will begin once funding and design work proceed, with a total cost around 220000 to 250000 and a 75000 annual federal commitment for 1976. Local supporters have raised over 68000 with more local funds likely. construction could start by mid June once bids are ready and architect Max Mueller from Twin Falls completes plans.
Two representatives from the Montana Department of Revenue will discuss property reclassification at 8 p.m. Monday in the Buffalo Room at Frye's Cafe in Big Timber. A.G. Slattery and Erwin Schock will explain reclassification procedures. Residential real estate was reappraised last year and commercial property notices were sent this year. ranch land will be reappraised next year.
Big Timber City Council members began a section by section review of proposed ordinances at a special meeting. The city attorney's office recodified and drafted the provisions but no adoption timetable was set.
Fire caused extensive smoke and structural damage to a mobile home occupied by Mr and Mrs Dan Howe at the Osborne trailer court Sunday evening. Fire Chief Dennis Beer cited an electrical malfunction near a living room outlet as the likely cause. The Howes were away at the time and the blaze had burned for some time, causing windows to blow out and heat to melt adjacent kitchen items.
