Funeral services are held this afternoon at 2 30 from the Lowry chapel for Jessie Whitfield who died Monday at her sister Mrs Oscar Fallangs home. Pallbearers include Dr B Olness A R McDonnell A W Strickland Wm Churchill Theo T Olson and Chas Fallang. Interment is in Mountain View. She was born in Maquoketa Iowa to Joseph and Mary Ann Whitfield. She moved to Montana about 25 years ago to live with her sister and is survived by brother Harry Whitfield of Van Nuys California nephew Oscar Fallang Jr. of Big Timber and niece Mrs Mary Sheldon of Spokane. Mr and Mrs Sheldon and son David came today to attend. the brother could not come.

Big Timber FFA Competes At Southern District Meet
Seven Big Timber FFA members joined sixty delegates from Bozeman Belgrade Deer Lodge Dillon Manhattan at Manhattan for the southern district event. A livestock judging contest covered sheep dairy cattle and hogs. In the afternoon shop parliamentary procedure and delegate meetings followed with Big Timber placing second in shop third in parliamentary and last in livestock. Attendees were George Hegdal Jack Blair Tommy Flanagan Carl Idland Don Duncan Grant Duncan and Cecil Carl. Transportation provided by Scott Hoskinson and Ralph Kneeland. Next year’s meet will be in Deer Lodge.

Mrs. 8. N. Lavold reports Alva Lavold’s return plans after landing in Oakland and a coast voyage via the Panama Canal toward New York harbor. Alva expects to be home in about 60 days and recently saw Jimmy and Betty Esp in San Francisco. Bill Ellison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ellison, returns Friday after three years in the Navy ending at Bremerton. His sister and baby joined from Livingston to visit. The Bieber family hosted all their children with Raymond leaving for Seattle after a 10 day Navy leave, Grace at Montana State College returning home for spring vacation, and Evelyn visiting from Baker Oregon for a two week leave.
