Progressive Citizens Ticket Nominated in Big Timber Mayor Race

A large crowd met in the Big Timber courthouse to nominate a mayor and four aldermen for the April 1909 city election. John F. Asbury was nominated for mayor, other candidates for alderman were chosen in a unanimous, acclamation vote, with final adjournment Sine Die.

College Band Coming to Big Timber this Saturday

The Big Timber audience awaits a visit from the State Agricultural College of Bozeman band. Sam Pound is a member, and the group will perform a free concert Saturday evening in the Auditorium under the high school auspices. A street concert precedes the event.

Pullman Bumps Into Passenger Engine at Big Timber

Passengers in a Pullman on No 15 escaped injury after the car left the track and struck the engine of No 4 while entering a side track at Big Timber. The sleeper rolled on its ties about 100 feet before tipping, then collided with No 4’s engine. The train stopped, passengers evacuated unharmed, and the damaged sleeper was abandoned. The service resumed to Livingston about 45 minutes later. Admission charges and a call to join the Dry Farming Congress followed.
