The United States Food Administration warns that war or peace, Americans must honor the August 1918 pledge and save food. It cites a target of 1744 million tons and recalls sugar ration reductions, urging vigilant conservation to support allies and national commitments.
Frank Burney is having a new barn built on the rear of his residence lot with Lew Brown doing the work. Wm Hesser, brother of Mrs Grace McGlashan, returned last Saturday from a three months visit with another sister in Seattle Washington. J C Angus passed thru town earlier this week with a truck load of freight en route to Daniel. Nelse Christensen and Gray Houston spent several days at Opal this week unloading a car of flour for Burney and Company, the local merchants.
Notice that under law and by order of the State Board of School Land Commissioners the Commissioner of Public Lands will offer for sale at public auction on December 2, 1918 at the Court House in Kemmerer the described school lands in multiple sections and tracts with surface rights valued at 13.83 per acre nonpremised minimums and terms allowing 10 percent cash and up to eighteen annual payments at 4 percent interest. The lands may be sold with improvements or at appraised value with the State retaining mining and mineral rights and the state board reserves the right to reject all bids. The notice is dated November 16, 1918 and signed by the Commissioner of Public Lands and Secretary.
Impressive services by the Woodman lodge for the late Wm Hawes at the Osterhout residence north of town last Friday morning November 15th. A large gathering attended and a lengthy cortege followed to Big Piney cemetery. L D Tanner served as funeral director.

The Big Piney Printing and Publishing Co holds a special stockholders meeting at the Examiner office on Sunday afternoon November 24 at 2 o'clock. Geo W Hopkins Jr serves as secretary.

Sheriff Ben Bell died of pneumonia after influenza at his Kemmerer home last Saturday. He had become sheriff after the death of James McMinn, with Syl Collette named deputy. He leaves a wife and son in France with the American forces and was widely esteemed.
