Announcement notes Germany's unconditional surrender ending hostilities. A family thanks neighbors for kindness during illness and death of a husband and son. Postmaster Jesse Budd is home ill with influenza. L D Tanner covers post office duties. Halloween decorations noted at local business houses.
Word from Halfway says Nellie Hereford died last evening from influenza and the family is sick. Nurses are desperately needed while two of the boys are feared to be in danger. If no new cases appear, school may reopen Monday. Floyd Norris transported a shipment to La Laranne. upon return he fell ill with influenza and is at Rock Springs General Hospital.
Everett Smith longtime Piney resident and deputy sheriff died at his Geo Durnford home on Tuesday morning November 5 1918 from pneumonia after influenza. Born April 12 1885 in Laramie Wyoming he was 34. Survived by wife Ethel McAvoy parents B F and Mrs Smith four brothers four sisters and many friends. Burial plans unsettled with body prepared locally then sent to Fort Collins for burial. funeral date not set.

70 tons of hay and 200 acres of first class pasture offered for sale across from the F D Ball ranch in Mund dy. Will feed cattle if desired. An inch of beautiful fall yesterday may clear the atmosphere of disease and curb the influenza epidemic.
Local Chairman T. D. ONeil appointed assistants to lead the United War Workers Campaign to raise funds for sailors boys over seas. Names include Mrs. Dr. Hook Big Piney J C Rumseh Mrs P Budd across the river Wash Whitman Mickelson James Mickelson Mason Mrs Dan Muir 67 ranches Guy Decker Noble ranch Chas Noble Stanley Frank Springman Oil wells Chag Lackey.
Reports say Mrs. John Haley of Halfway died at home yesterday from influenza. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Geo Hereford and is survived by her husband, one child, her parents, and several brothers and sisters including Robert Hereford in France. A casket was sent from here and funeral details are not yet known. The community extends sympathy to the family.
From early returns the state leans Republican while the county likely stays Democratic except Jackson Hole precincts not yet heard. Prohibition appears to pass. Piney precinct reports 108 votes with Oscar Beck leading ticket on GOP and Platt Wilson top Democrat for county surveyor. Ned Davidson wins road supervisor and A. B. Stout becomes justice of the peace. Dan and Elmer Rathbun visited town Tuesday.
