Red Cross to hold Rodeo and Auction in Green River Valley
The Green River Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross elected T. D. O’Neil as chairman and set a May 20 1918 rodeo and cattle and horse auction in Marbleton and Big Piney to launch the national Red Cross drive. James Mickelson named campaign manager and John C Budd rodeo manager. A joint school program at Budd Hall and a dance with Red Cross supper follow, aiming to raise 2500 dollars locally and one hundred million nationally.

School Election Held Monday in Dist. No. 8
The annual district school election at Budd hall approved a 3 12 mill tax levy by unanimous vote. Trustees Al Osterhout James Mickelson and J B Budd were re-elected. Schools will run nine months at Big Piney Marbleton eight months at North Piney and on Green River. Justin Pomeroy of Fontenelle bought a Buick from Big Piney Garage.

Big Piney community surpassed its Liberty Loan goal of 15 000 by raising 29 750 before the drive ended. Marbleton bank reported 6 400 in subscriptions, Lincoln county quotas were 233 300 and doubled, earning local and county committee praise for their work toward wartime support.

End of finger amputated unloading farm machinery
Neil Durnford lost the index finger of his right hand while assisting with a wagon load of farm gear for Big Piney Mer. Co. last Monday. A disc slipped, pinching his hand between the disc and wagon box, severing at the first joint. Dr. M. B. Hook dressed the wound. healing well.
