A talk by Lt. England drew a large audience at Daniel Tuesday night with many from Piney attending. A dance followed the address and net receipts went to the Red Cross. Citizens extend thanks to Atty. Ivan S. Jones of Kemmerer for arranging the event and for taking the Lieutenant to Afton for further speaking.

Liberty Day Observed Promotes Bond Purchases
Last Friday afternoon April 26 in accordance with the Mayor proclamation every business house in Piney closed its doors and each individual did his part urging people to buy bonds. Several hundred dollars worth of Bonds were disposed of that day. Geo Johnson of Middle Piney was in town last Friday.

Minstrel a Success for Piney Red Cross Benefit
The Pine dale troupe staged a minstrel show in Buddhall last Friday April 26 to benefit the Red Cross. Led by L E Bennett the local musician and director, the cast delivered fresh jokes and songs that delighted Piney and nearby residents. The troupe supplied their own scenery and a grand ball followed the show, with proceeds totaling 219.40 for the local Red Cross Chapter.

In the Fontenelle area on April 26 1918 Chas Olson returned from the upper country where he moved cattle to the summer range above the Black Buttes. Howard Holden Frank and Justin Pomeroy work on a ditch for summer irrigation. Walter Yose of Big Piney visited Fontenelle on business. Illnesses with severe colds hit residents this week. Justin Pomeroy and wife attended Lyon Rathbun’s money. Mr and Mrs Clarence Holden and family visited D O Roberson Sunday. Clarence Holden plans calf branding after tending cattle Friday. The Herschler ranch visit occurred Tuesday. Mrs Lyon Rathbun left for Indiana Wednesday for a few weeks.

City Election to Be Eliminated in Piney
In Piney a caucus at Town Hall voted to cancel the May 14 1918 city election to save funds. Mayor L D Tanner and council will serve another year. Tanner bought a $100 liberty bond for the city. officers remain Mayor Tanner, Councilmen Chapel Yose Badd Jensen and Clerk Grover Trittipo.

A Green River Valley Chapter Red Cross executive committee meeting is set for Monday May 6 at 10:00 AM at the Blainey State Bank to elect a new chapter chairman replacing Rev. A Gordon Fawkes. The Big Piney Garage sold several autos and trucks this week.
