Life of Amos W. Smith Prominent Big Piney Cattle Man
Amos W. Smith, a pioneer Green River Valley cattleman and second largest cattle owner in the state, died February 27 in Cheyenne Wyoming at age 72 4 months and 21 days. He was buried at Burlington Junction Missouri. Born October 7, 1846 in Missouri, he worked in Idaho and Nevada mines before turning to stock growing. He came to Big Piney in 1879, bought operations in 1894, married Frances Griggs in 1885, and served as vice president of the State Bank of Big Piney. He was active in the Elks and Masons and widely regarded for charity and support of youth. He is survived by brothers George and William. All Green River Valley mourns its foremost citizen.

Hoback Road Project to Resume in Western Wyoming
The year road program for western Wyoming National Forests allocates 10,215 00 by the U S Forest Service District 4 Ogden Utah. Of the sum 9,936 00 comes from 10 per cent net receipts with 5,500 00 for Hoback road in Teton and Bridger National Forests. The Hoback Canyon route would connect Lincoln Highway to Jackson and Yellowstone via Rock Springs Pinedale or via Big Piney and Daniel.
