The Town Council of Big Piney will meet July 1 1916 at 8 oclock P M in the Town Hall to levy a special assessment for the construction of sidewalks on the north side of Budd Avenue, touching all property abutting that side. Mayor L D Tanner. Town Clerk Grover Trittipo.
Woodmen of the World Camp 851 in Big Piney Wyoming held its annual memorial service at the cemetery on June 11 1916. Consul Commander A F Atwood presided with Rev Gray delivering the address and Mr Wenrich offering a prayer. The group sang hymns and placed floral tributes on graves of members and families.
The Town of Big Piney invites bids by the town clerk for sidewalks on Budd Avenue from Front Street to Dodge Street. Bids due July 1 1916 at 7 p m. Sidewalks minimum 6 feet wide cement or 2 inch plank with 2x6 stringers. Bond or certified check of $25 required. Town Council may reject any bid. Grover Trittipotown Clerk.
A $25 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons seining spearing or dynamiting fish in any lake or stream. C. P. Sorensen Assistant Game Warden.
Local residents plan a new road from three and a half miles from the lake to the foot of the hill half a mile away to improve access and fishing at Middle Piney Lake. Autos may reach the lake this summer as driftwood at the outlet, hindering sport, will be removed with Game Warden C P Sorensen coordinating the effort from Big Piney after his Pinedale visit.
County Agricultural Agent J E Watt reports he plans a visit to Big Piney in about ten days to spend several days in the area. The upcoming event is the W O W band dance scheduled for Friday evening June 30 in Big Piney.
A one year lease to operate the Hotel Piney takes effect today with Frank Chapel and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Smith and Mrs. Lena Gray taking charge. Chapel will still oversee his interests while noting the new management will maintain the hotel’s previous standard and thanks the community for support.
The Green River Valley Cattle and Horse Growers' association holds its annual meeting in Marbleton on Monday and Tuesday of next week amid rumors of reorganization. A dance is planned for Monday evening with supper at the Marbleton hotel and music by L. E. Bennett. admission is $1.
Rev. Geo. F. Wenrich arrived from Charlotte Michigan last Saturday to lead the Congregational church. He was greeted warmly at his first service with his wife and children and will move to the E. D. Key house once furniture arrives. Rev. W. E. D. Gray accompanied him to Big Piney for installation and spoke at Sunday memorial services.
The band boys spent a pleasant Sunday evening serenading Mr. and Mrs. Fish. Mrs. Fish anticipated the surprise with ice cream and cake. After several selections, she sang pleasing songs, and the group departed around 10 o'clock praising the hostess.
John O'Neil of Alabama, a son of a state senator who is a brother of T. D. O'Neil, visits the O'Neil home this summer and expresses interest in finding a witch in the West. The household extends him a hearty welcome.
Mrs. Alberta Edna Franks, 26, believed life complete and took poison at the Lundgren ranch on Cottonwood. She consumed strychnine and carbolic acid and died within moments. Wife of Walter Franks, mother of a five year old girl and a six year old boy, married ten years. Funeral held Sunday. Rev. D. D. Reese presided. Interment at Halfway cemetery.
The Congregational church schedules Sunday School at 10, preaching at 11, and evening service at 8 on June 18. Special music will be offered at all services and all are invited. Rev. Geo F Wenrich is pastor.
