Mrs. Whitman visits during music period as juniors entertain HS guests. Grades plan book choices and Valentine crafts while 7th graders study Long fellow and 8th graders write from Ivanhoe. Patriotic program set for Feb 23 with 25 cent admission. James McLaughlin travels from Cora to Piney for his brother’s funeral. Belgian Relief Fund offerings sent. Boys Club hosts Friday at Crafton home.
Woodmen of the World Camp 851 held a rousing Saturday meeting with a class initiation and banquet. District Manager John A Pfisterer attended as the largest attendance yet, with membership at 93 and expected to surpass 100 soon. The order operates in nine western states with over 8 million dollars invested in municipal bonds and a per capita worth of 66 dollars. A follow up meeting is planned for next Saturday with another large class to be introduced.
An open letter from St. John Baptist Mission in Big Piney Wyoming commends Mayor L. D. Tanner council members and local fraternal lodges for attending a Patriotic Service. The writer praises the representative congregation, the worship and prayer spirit, and thanks the organist soloist altar participants and the Big Piney Examiner for advertising the event.
The county treasurer announces the calling in of indebtedness certificates numbers 6273 through 6794. Interest will cease on February 15, 1917. Signed by Gilbert Taysom, County Treasurer.
Water users note Wyoming surveyors licenses follow a graded system. State Engineers Report outlines five grades, from first grade surveying for irrigation up to hydraulic and general engineering work, with fifth grade encompassing lower grades and irrigation law knowledge.
A pretty wedding united Roy Haller and Carrie Loar at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Bennett with Rev. C. Reader officiating. Bridesmaid Miss Marie Atwood and best man Mr. Geo. Farrell attended. A wedding supper followed. The couple will reside in the MacGlashan residence after a visit to Evanston.
Buster Mellvain from Ball ranch joined the Cottonwood group for a High School party and the Woodmen of the World banquet honoring District Manager John Pfisterer. He escorted Piney youth to a Marbleton dance and attended Patriotic Services at the Episcopal church with H. H. Moyer.
Since the law has been in force the standard has been gradually raised by examinations which are somewhat more difficult.
John Pfisterer district manager of Woodmen of the World arrives in Big Piney and sets up at Hotel Piney. Local Camp 851 completes a large class of candidates Saturday evening and pfisterer remains through February 24 to work in the camp’s interests.
