Sublette County Treasurer Hazel Lawes will sell at public auction on September 1, 1950, at the Pinedale courthouse between 9 AM and 5 PM for taxes due on multiple parcels. Sale continues daily with Sundays excluded until all lands are sold. totals include taxes penalty interest and costs.
The Veterans Administration announced that World War II veterans entering or re entering active service may resume education or training under the GI Bill after the July 25 1951 cut off if their progress remains satisfactory. They have a window after release from active duty to re enter, with completion required by July 25 1956. Veterans who enlisted under voluntary re enlistment act have nine years from discharge to finish. The VA also reviews cases of WWII veterans denied compensation for service connected pulmonary tuberculosis under Public Law 573, which raises the presumptive period from one to three years after discharge. The new law also covers Spanish American War veterans. World War I veterans are unaffected. Retroactive payments apply to claims filed before June 23 1950. later awards start from the claim date.
The Wyoming Public Service Commission approved Silver Star Telephone to construct and operate service in Thayne Alpine Etna Bedford and Freedom in Star Valley. The firm and its predecessors have served Star Valley since 1921 and now seek to build a new service building and install new equipment.
