Open Season Set For Sage Grouse In This Sector

An open season on sage grouse will occur August 27 and 28 in four hunting units in southwestern Wyoming: Uinta Lincoln Green River and Sweetwater. Daily bag limit is three, with possession allowed above that. Supervised grouse hunting in Helen valley area set for Sept 2 3 and Sept 9 10. Wyoming Game and Fish to loan color film on fish work

The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission announces a new 16 mm color sound film by Wildlife Films, Inc. filmed in Wyoming. It shows fish management and culture with scenic shots and a strong conservation message for sport clubs, schools, and civic groups. Mexican man dies of street suffocation during epilepsy

Juan Jose Mesias, epileptic, died last night on a street in the east end of town during an epileptic fit. He came from Rock Springs where relatives reside. Coroner F. W. Tanner and mortician will retrieve the body this evening. He had worked as a key hand for RK L Miller the past week.

Biggest Wyoming State Fair Livestock Show Expected

The Wyoming State Fair in Douglas is poised to host the largest livestock show in state history from August 30 to September 2 1950 with entries in horses beef cattle dairy cattle and sheep rising dramatically. Swine exhibit interest grows and a half Arabian class for horses is added with plans for multiple horse show sessions. The event also features a county exhibit program a modern museum fundraiser a full auto show and a six pony Curtiss Candy attraction with a Snow White themed wagon. James Bennett of Logan Utah will showcase a sheep dog act and Weaver Gray and Juanita Gray present fancy riding alongside rodeo events led by Bob McManus and Benny Bender.

Martin Horn of Payson Killed On Birthday in Utah Bridge Crash

Martin Mickelson Horn of Payson Utah was killed Wednesday morning when his car struck a bridge railing near his home. The death was confirmed by Jas F Mickelson, a relative. He was the son of Mrs Jens Horn, a former resident of this area, and the tragedy occurred on his birthday, a year to the day after his father’s burial.

Public Lands Bureau Powers and 1949 Revenue Report

The Public Lands under the Bureau of Land Management administers about 186 million acres in the continental U S and 290 million in Alaska offering cadastral data grazing leases timber and mineral extraction and land disposal services. Second Annual Champion Steer Roping To Be Held August 20

The Sublette County Roping Club will sponsor the second annual champion ship steer roping contest at Pinedale on August 20. Last year drew a national crowd and organizers expect a larger attendance this year with a $2,000 prize fund. Steers supplied by Bing Merritt of Federal, Wyoming, most funds go to Sublette County school districts,roads and bridges figures listed, range and public land projects funded in 1949. Range reseeding in Utah shows strong results for western lands

A group of stockmen from Rock Springs Kemmerer and Cokeville toured central and southern Utah seedings. They praised experimental reseeding at Ephraim Canyon noting 4000 acre airplane seeding succeeds mainly for Aspen Oak or burns. Bryce Canyon Pines area hosts largest reseeding with 16000 acres. Prices for fat lambs and feeder lambs reported.

Livestock Program Draws 100 plus in Jackson Area
