GM Executive Pays 150000 For Son Return

Timothy Stempel, 13, son of GM executive Robert C. Stempel, was returned to his Bloomfield Hills home after a ransom of 150000 was paid. The boy, exhausted but alert, walked into Wayne County Medical Center around 11 p.m. Wednesday following an abduction Monday evening outside his home. The elder Stempel arranged the payoff at a designated spot, with police surveillance, and authorities noted no evidence the kid was alive during negotiations.
