Which Is First Money Or Test Tube Baby
A Los Angeles area housewife advertising for a surrogate mother says money dominates responses. Ten to twelve letters offer high fees, while others aim to give birth for a fee or even free. She cites adoption delays in California and notes her husband supports seeking a child via a test tube approach. The piece also mentions a firm executive claiming $60 billion yearly in lost time from cheating and chiseling, and a Roosevelt era TVA creation to address 1930s lowness.

Military Starts Weeding Out Officers Amid Vietnam Era Drawdown
Washington AP reports the Army and Air Force will shed thousands of officers as they downsize from the Vietnam era. About 2,150 of 2,700 candidates will leave voluntarily under an annual separation plan, with equal focus on regulars and reservists. The Army aims to drop 4,400 officers next year, while the Air Force plans to cut 1,200 to 2,000 reservists. Navy and Marine Corps will not force major cuts, though the Navy will trim about 1,500 by other means. Regulars are projected to fall to roughly 105,000 in the Air Force, and the Army reduced from 170,000 in 1969 toward 98,000 next year.
