American sky watchers prepare for a total lunar eclipse starting at midnight EDT on May 24 as Earth’s shadow engulfs the Moon for about 90 minutes. The Coppery shadow will darken the Moon through the early hours, with full immersion by 1:04 a.m. and a dramatic end as dawn approaches.
Maine Attorney General Joseph Brennan moved to remove York County District Attorney William Donahue and two aides, citing authority from 1951 and 1917 statutes. The case centers on acting in place of a district attorney and the removal process, with historical challenges in 1953 and 1917 law cited by officials and librarians.
