Maine Tun a Fishermen Challenge NOAA At Hearin g

Maine tuna fishermen from Orrs Island to Ogunquit travel to Boston for an NOAA hearing at the Massachusetts State House to oppose a proposed federal catch limit of 1,300 bluefin tuna per year and harpoon restrictions. They argue NOAA uses flawed data, allege undercounting Maine landings, accuse the agency of back door regulation, and call for accurate landings and open competition before any rule. They note tuna as a part time but lucrative Boston market business and question Europe’s lack of conservation efforts.

Castellucci Sole Owner Named Beneficiary in Pownall Case

Portland AP report: Joseph A. Castellucci, under cross examination in the Schwartz Congo murder trial, said he was the sole owner of Planet 3 Films Ltd and sole beneficiary of a $400,000 life insurance policy on slain director Jon Pownall, taken 10 days before his Aug 30, 1973 death. The state charges Herbert Schwartz hired Truman Dongo to kill Pownall to cash the policy. Castellucci acknowledged financial troubles at the time and the defense suggests Castellucci committed the murder after Schwartz claimed to arrange it.
