Social Security tips for part time work and widow benefits
Retirees earning less than their prior full time wages do not automatically increase Social Security benefits. Part time earnings must exceed the average retirement salary to raise payouts, with an annual earnings cap of 1680. Widows from 50 may qualify for disabled widow benefits if disability began within seven years of the husband’s death. Profit from selling a home does not need reporting for Social Security unless it affects earnings tests. Veterans pension uses gross income with certain exclusions. medical expenses affect taxable income only if tied to disability retirement.
