Think Session on Mental Health Held in Saco
A Think Session on mental health planning was coordinated by Conrad Griffin of the University of Maine Extension Service at Sweetser Children's Home in Saco under York County Mental Health Association auspices. Participants included Roy Tibbetts Fred Brown Mary D Merrill Mrs Herman Schneider and others. The group called for better communications and an urgent hotline, discussed using para professionals and leveraging all county resources to expand services while preserving professionals for treatment. The next informal meeting to recruit more participants is set for July 21 at Sweetser Children's Home from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Defense Department Cancels MOL Project
The Defense Department announced cancellation of the Air Force Manned Orbiting Laboratory program citing federal defense spending pressures. Goodwin Murder Trial Start Shifts Plea in York Defense
In York County Superior Court Ralph Francis Goodwin 29 altered his plea from innocent by reason of insanity to a simple innocent plea. He is charged with the July 16 shooting death of his wife Marilyn K Hanson win 25 in Sanford. Defense attorney Armand Gendron will put him on the stand and has listed four additional witnesses including the defendant’s Dover New Hampshire parents Mr and Mrs Albert Goodwin. Assistant Attorney General Daniel Lilley will present 23 state witnesses, including the reporter and photographer present when Mrs Goodwin was shot after she was held hostage for almost seven hours by Goodwin. Preliminary motions dominated the morning as jurors were chosen and sequestered for the trial.
