The district committee including J H Dearborn John N Anthoine L W Stone William Hill William F Libby and J H Fogg said the old brick pile on Washington Street had passed its usefulness for high school purposes.

A town meeting debated six sites for a new high school. After votes on every lot, the Alfred Street Smith lot won 171 to 260 against Brackett and other contenders. Moderator cast deciding ballot to purchase Smith lot for 6000 dollars, becoming the site of Biddeford Junior High School.
