Swedes and Danes embark 17 day Vietnam tour

Thirty Swedes and Danes depart Copenhagen on a pioneering 17 day tour to Vietnam visiting Hanoi Haiphong Don Son and Gulf of Tonkin beaches. The trip aims to influence future tourism. A 1976 Vietnam tour brochure is being distributed in Switzerland with a price of $1,800 for 18 days.

Last Ditch Attempt To Extend Tax Cut Is Hammered Out

The Senate Finance Committee approved a six month tax cut extension by a 10 to 1 vote to block a January 1 tax increase. The plan couples the extension with a nonbinding pledge to cut next year's spending by 17 billion dollars. If no resolution is reached, withholding will rise. A single person earning 17 500 would owe 3 145 in 1976 versus 3 115 under the 1975 cut. Married couple with two children at 17 500 would see similar changes.

Cohen and Emery Rage Over White House Tactics

Two Maine Republicans voiced anger at a White House threat to derail John Reed's NTSB chair appointment unless they supported Ford's tax veto. Moluccan gunmen surrender after 16 day consulate siege

Seven South Moluccan gunmen end a 16 day siege at the Indonesian consulate by releasing 25 hostages unharmed. One Indonesian official died earlier. Gunmen, who gained no concessions, waved as they left in three police wagons. Hostages were driven away as residents cheered and fields of Dutch flags fluttered. Revisions Required In Waycott Plan

The Saco planning board told developer Leroy Waycott to revise a four lot minor subdivision off Simpson Road. They require a 50 foot easement along a stream and a topological map with deed restrictions, plus indicate the Saco River Corridor portion. A 60 foot right of way debate arose with city street acceptance in mind.
