Oil spill hits Prudhoe Bay largest in Alaska history

A 600000 gallon spill from eight interconnects at storage tanks near the Arctic Ocean polluted two acres of frozen tundra on Alaska s North Slope. Alyeska Pipeline Service Co officials said the spill, caused by a 50 degree temperature swing, occurred Tuesday night or Wednesday and was not discovered until Wednesday. Environmental damage extent is unknown.

North Carolina Supreme Court Won’t Hear Joan Little Appeal

The North Carolina Supreme Court declined to hear Joan Little’s appeal of her 1974 conviction for breaking and entering and larceny. The decision leaves her 7 to 10 year sentence intact, though the start date of incarceration remains unsettled. Little has been free on bond while appealing.

William Zywot may face grand jury in Quinlan case

William Zywot, 22, a companion of Karen Ann Quinlan, may be called before a state grand jury in Trenton to discuss the last two days of Quinlan’s conscious life. He was interviewed Wednesday as officials kept silent on whether he would testify. The New York Post identified Donald Trepiccone, 33, as a possible target in the Quinlan investigation, a claim law enforcement would not discuss.

First Major Snowstorm Shuts Schools and Ice Spots Roads

A major snowstorm paralyzed Maine causing school cancellations in Biddeford Kennebunk Kennebunkport Old Orchard Beach and Saco while Thornton Academy chose to remain open.
