Dorcas Chapter No 151 hosted a Sept 21 evening with a banquet by Sharon Lutheran Ladies Aid for over 100 members and guests from Ironwood. The Star members then gathered at Masonic Hall for initiation of Miss H Abelman, with Throne officers and five star points detailed, corsages presented, reminiscences shared, readings and duets, social hour, and lunch. The Worthy Matron and officers received praise for a well executed event.

Mary Shefka Dies After Illness at 73
Mrs. Mary Shefka aged 73 died shortly after midnight last Friday following pneumonia and age related illness. Born in Poland she lived in Bessemer for 40 years and was a member of the Polish Rosary Society. Surviving are six children including Mrs. Andrew Godiewski of Bayonne and sons Martin Michael Frank Joseph Anton. Funeral at St Sebastian Catholic Church Tuesday at 9 with Rev C J Swoboda. burial in Hillrest Cemetery. Pallbearers: August Semmerling Thomas Olzewski Andrew Wroblewski John Awsiewicz Theodore Kott Conrad Popko.

Illness Fatal for Gladys Gray in Meedaracon
Miss Gladys Gray of Meedaracon dies after long illness in Grand View hospital where tuberculosis contributed to death. Born April 18 1886 in Bessemer she taught physical education in Michigan and Minnesota before illness ended her teaching career. Taylor Funeral Held On Monday
Funeral services for James Taylor former resident of this city who died in Detroit last Thursday were held Monday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church. Rev W L Francis officiating interment was in Hillrest cemetery. Survivors include sons Bernard Jennings and Melbourne all of Detroit. The body was shipped here Sunday for burial. Mr Taylor aged 75 was born in Nova Scotia and had lived in Bessemer twenty years. He moved to Detroit seven years ago to live with his sons after being struck by an auto and suffering pneumonia and complications from the accident.

A. Green First Development Bureau Head Dies
Thornton A. Green, first president of the Upper Peninsula Development bureau, died September 22 in Fond du Lac. He helped organize the bureau at Menominee in 1911 and inspired a large northern Michigan effort to address the cut over land issue. The village of Green near Lake Superior is named after him. he and Mrs. Green wintered in Natchez, Mississippi.
