Puritan Resident Oscar Mellin Dies After Long Illness
Oscar Mellin of Puritan township died at 5 30 am at his home after a long illness. Born Oct 21 1850 in Smaaland Sweden he came to the U S at 16 settling in Chicago then Iron Mountain before moving to Gogebic Ironwood and finally Puritan 24 years ago. He was a janitor at Puritan School for 16 years and is survived by two sons Oscar of Fond du Lac and John at home a daughter Miss Mae Hayes of the Davis Location and seven grandchildren. Funeral services are Saturday at 2 pm at his home conducted by Rev F E W Eastman. Burial in Hillcrest.
