Tragic Death of Capt Vogtlin by Bull Attack
Rockland's Capt Joseph Vogtlin aged 97 was gored and torn by an angry bull while tending a farm near his home. He was found by his son Will, shot the animal to Free him, and died forty minutes later after being returned home. Born in Switzerland on July 25 1825 he immigrated to America at 19 and settled in Rockland leaving a wife and six children. The funeral was at St Mary's Catholic Church.
