Memorial Day Parade Plans Outlined in Bessemer
Final arrangements for the Memorial Day Parade in Bessemer and cemetery program were approved at a joint meeting of American Legion posts and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. with two sections and a route from Washington School to the Cemetery, led by Sheriff Frank Perlich and County Traffic Officer George Georgie. A cemetery program follows featuring the Bessemer Township Junior Band, speakers, ROTC units, and the High School Band, with Gold Star parents and wounded veterans to ride in accompanying cars. All veterans and civic groups are urged to participate. Transportation for Gold Star parents and wounded veterans is provided from Ramsay Town Hall at 9:00 a.m.

The largest graduating class in Michigan College of Mining and Technology history will receive 301 degrees at commencement on June 7 in James R. Dee Stadium. 283 bachelor of science, 15 master of science, and 3 honorary degrees will be awarded to students from 16 states and five foreign countries.

VFW Auxiliary Holds Meeting With Installations and Plans
The VFW Auxiliary met at the Post club rooms Thursday night. Leone Mazanec was installed as an eight year trustee and Ann Smolich as color guard by district president Mathilda Garvey of Ironwood. Reports from the Esconaba rally highlighted aiding veteran families. Officers for the 16th District were named Hoffner as flag bearer and Gray as pianist. A Decoration Day parade participation was approved. Donations included 5 to Cancer Fund and 10 to a needy family, with grocery drives at local shops. Guests Wilda Rowe and Lucille Beauchamp attended.

Infant dies in East Hartford Connecticut
The infant daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Louis C. Acqua of 40 Elm Street East Hartford died Thursday May 20 at St Francis Hospital. She is survived by maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs John Springhetti of Bessemer and paternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Dominic Acqua of New Haven. Funeral services and burial were held Saturday at 11 am at St Marys Cemetery East Hartford. Mrs Acqua is the former Bernadine Springhetti.
