Wakefield hotel project offer from Kerkes hinges on tenant
Joseph Kerkes of Ironwood offers to build a hotel in Wakefield if the city or citizens provide a responsible ten year tenant for the property. He told J W Bedell and the Wakefield commission that construction could start immediately north of the Palace Store, possibly using part or all of the Kerkes building for the hotel and creating a new structure for his store. The commission authorized inviting Kerkes to present his proposal at the next meeting. The Wakefield Advocate noted these terms.
