Edwin Shogren Dies Sunday at 68 In Michigan Mining Career
Edwin L. Shogren aged 68 died last Sunday at Grand View hospital from a cerebral hemorrhage after a stroke two weeks earlier. Born April 30 1882 in Dahlsburg Finland he moved to Crystal Falls at 19 to begin mining. He worked nearly 50 years for Ogleby Norton except for interruptions, later serving as mining captain at Castile mine Ramsay. Survived by wife Ellen Lindquist two sons Earl Eskil Shogren a daughter Mrs Walter Freeman one brother William and one sister Jennie with six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Two sons Edmund and Alvin preceded him. Funeral services were held Wednesday at J J Frick Funeral Home then burial in Crystal Falls.

Girl Scout Camp Opens 31st Year at Camp Galilee
Camp Galilee enters its 31st camping year with Red Cross life savers in charge. About 900 campers from Range Ashland Superior and nearby communities attend yearly learning outdoor living swimming and camp skills. Facilities include heated housing a 40 by 44 foot recreation building a model two bed hospital and nurses quarters. Campers should bring clothes gear towels sheets and toiletries and may rent three woolen blankets for 25 cents. Non sectarian services available Sundays Protestant and Catholic campers. Anvil Resident Frank Zadra Dies After Illness
Frank Zadra aged 58 died Monday at Newport hospital after three months of serious illness. A longtime Anvil resident and miner, he came to the U S in 1909 from Austria and settled in Anvil in 1911. Survived by his wife four sons three daughters eleven grandchildren a brother and two sisters. Funeral services will be held today at St Sebastian Church led by Rev C J Szodwa.
