Anton Marander Passes Away June 4
Anton A Marander 77 a pioneer South Bessemer resident died Wednesday evening June 4 at Divine Infant Hospital Wakefield. Born August 5 1891 in Toby Korsholm Vaasa Laani Finland he came to the area in 1909. He married Anna Anderson August 23 1914 and they farmed in South Bessemer. Survivors include wife two sons Richard and Arthur two daughters Isabelle Jones and Werner Ki eight grandchildren eleven great grandchildren four sisters and numerous relatives. services Saturday at Sharon Lutheran Church with burial Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers listed.

Ruppe Pushes $100 Minimum Social Security Payment

Last Corpsmen Leave Ojibway Center in Michigan Closure
The Ojibway Civilian Center near Marenisco Michigan ends operations July 1 along with 58 other Job Corps centers after a program reorganization. Over 1800 corpsmen aged 16 to 21 trained there since December 1965 gaining skills in carpentry heavy equipment operation auto mechanics and cooking and contributing to forest projects and local recovery efforts.
