Funeral held for Robert G. Reid in Topeka Kansas
Funeral services were held last Thursday in Topeka for Robert G. Reid 77 father of Mrs E J Oas of this city. He died May 30 after a brief illness with heart failure. He is survived by his widow two daughters and five gols.

Don Vigeant announced the ironwood Michigan State Employment Service office filled 23 jobs for the week ending May 13. The Employment Compensation Commission paid Gogebic County workers 3239.00 in unemployment benefits, with 316 benefit checks issued that week. Total unemployment benefits to date amount to 329,923.00 across 2,046 individuals.

Bessemer Sets Biannual City Tax Schedule and Fees
Bessemer adopts a biannual tax system effective July 1 with state county and school taxes due December 1. A 1 percent collection fee is added in the first month, plus a 1 percent monthly fee after August 1 and a 3 percent penalty after January 10. The council also discussed road repairs, road oil bids, and a county street transfer. Mayor Hill appointed aldermen to attend a Michigan Municipal League conference at Crystal Falls June 22-23.

The Bessem er city and township school election occurs Monday June 12. In townships two trustees for three year terms are chosen at Ramsay Puritan town halls 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. From 3 to 5 p.m. electors meet at Ramsay hall to vote taxes and set salaries.

Former County Mine Inspector Ferdinand Ohman Dies
Ferdinand C. Ohman Gogebic county mine inspector from 1933 to 1935 died at midnight Sunday at Newport hospital after gallbladder surgery. He was 55 and leaves a widow and three children in Lionwood. Ohman was active in local music as a tenor soloist and directed the Salem Lutheran church choir and the Swedish Glee Club in Ironwood. Celebrate the 4th in Bessemer.
