Two Wakefield girls die in a head on train car crash in Marathon County Wisconsin near Rothschild six miles south of Wausau. Victims Nancy Theresa Draxler 19 and Mary Carol Warren 18 were Wakefield High School graduates of 1855 and longtime Wausau-area workers. Rancher Glen, a guitar playing health educator from the Michigan Teberealicsis Association, visited Gogebic County schools in May to entertain children with songs and tales of western life while stressing cleanliness, good food, sleep, outdoor play, and posture. The TB association sponsors the visit as part of its school health program to promote early habits and general health to prevent TB infection and dormancy.

Daniel J. Sparapani son of Mr and Mrs Egedio Sparapani of Bessemer received Magna Cum Laude merit diploma at Salvatorian Seminary Latin Night. Very Rev Richard Birdsall presided assisted by Rev Alban Degroot and Rev Eugene Brochtrup. He earned it in the 26th annual national Latin exam by Auxilium Latinum magazine. Ninety seminary students competed with 26,000 across the nation. seminary students have won 33 gold medals overall, two this year.
Power Co Names Mateofsky Assistant District Manager Ironwood
J G A Donald of Lake Superior District Power Co announces that Robert Mateofsky of Bayfield is appointed Assistant District Manager of the Ironwood District effective June 1 1957. Mateofsky has worked since 1947 in Line Engineering Rate and Safety and has headed the Bayfield District since May 1955. He is a DePadua High School graduate, Navy WWII veteran, married with three daughters, and will relocate to Ironwood when housing is found.
