Tourist Association Seeks Local Cooperation
The Gogebic and Ontonagon Tourist Association met at Dewey's Cafe in Bessemer with about twenty five in attendance. George Bishop of the Upper Peninsula Development Bureau urged cooperation, outlined the Lure Book, and said inquiries are directed to county authorities if needed. He noted 42 percent of UP tourist business stems from the bureau's efforts and urged registration of tourist cabins, resorts, and lakefront property. County Agent C E Guidersen contributed suggestions and the next meeting is planned for July.

Gogebic county spent $34,414.49 of $243,972.34 in the 1936 emergency relief program, 14.15 percent of the total. Marquette led with 38.96 percent of the Upper Peninsula relief cost, while Houghton spent $381,306.58 with 3.87 percent county share. The UP total was $1,648,671.56, with the federal $62,869.85 and state $1,370,072. Counties statewide bore $209,143.50 of the burden, versus 12.69 percent for UP counties and 40.07 percent for lower peninsula units.

The state capitol at Lansing rises in New Hampshire granite with dimensions 420 by 274 feet and 27 feet high. It cost 1,520,130.59 dollars, covers one and one sixth acres, and was designed by Elijah E. Myers of Springfield. Contractors were N. Osborn & Co. Mother of George Koronski Passes in Bessemer Home
Elise Koronski, mother of George W. Koronski, died Saturday at 11 30 in her Bessemer home after four months of heart trouble. Born August 6 1856 in Zurich she had lived in Philadelphia California and Florida before moving to Ironwood. Surviving are three sons George Andre and Stephen and two sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Frick funeral home with Rev John Knapp officiating and interment in the Bessemer cemetery. Upper Peninsula bankers meet at Blaney Park June 35 with speakers and a banquet planned.

New Pulp Hoist Rise At Ashland Harbor Front
The Marathon Paper Co of Wisconsin plans a pulp hoist and derrick on Ashland harbor to lift logs from the water onto railroad cars. This year the firm expects about 35 000 cords of logs floated across Lake Superior from Ontario. A Swedish pulp cargo of 3 500 bales arrived May 6 at Clarkson Coal dock for the Ashland mill.
