Ironwood College selects Mount Zion site for new campus
Ironwood board of trustees unanimously chose Mount Zion, an L shaped 138 acre site a mile north of Iron, over two other locations in Bessemer and Wakefield. Dr James Lehman said he was impressed with the selection, and work will start on building plans. The city will donate the site and provide sewer lines, while college classes continue at the high school until occupancy.

Cadet Lt Col Mitchell Le Clair e a senior at A D Johnston High School Bessemer earns top high school ROTC rank for knowledge and leadership. He commanded the ROTC Battalion at the federal inspection and parade held May 26 with Lt Col Clyde K Lawrence of Michigan Tech inspecting. an awards ceremony followed.

Forest Service Plans Purchase of 18000 Acre Sylvania Tract
A government purchase proposed to acquire the 18000 acre Sylvania tract is announced. In other news Mrs Frank Kontay, 49, of 411 S Beecher St died after a long illness at Divine Infant Hospital Wakeheld. She was born August 5 1916 in Hayward Wisconsin and married to Frank Kontay in 1939. They moved to Duluth then to Ashland area in 1956. Surviving are her husband a son and several siblings. Funeral services are arranged locally.

Mrs. Donald DeRosie was elected president of the Shar on Lutheran Church Women at Eastman Hall.
