The Bessemer Board of Education met at the A. D. Johnston Building September 14 1933 with Lutz Kalasavicz Marchello Barnich Honora Byrne and Jane Q Massie present Absent Dr Mullen Minutes from August meetings were approved Finance committee reports were read and invoices approved Payable sums included 824.63 and 475.98 to the Michigan Retirement Fund and payroll support for teachers The board authorized various invoices and payments and set hires for auditing and four new typewriters The athletic association funding and transport contracts were reviewed and a Northwestern Motor Bus Company proposal accepted over the Neault Garage option The meeting adjourned.

Leading mines include Mahoning Hibbing Minn and Bennett Keewatin Minn and Plymouth mine Wakefield Mich operated by Pick and Sons Mather Co. Hibbing Memorial Building Burned
Firefighters battled a blaze at Hibbing Memorial Building around 1 15 am on December 38. The structure valued and insured reportedly, housed the town center for ex service organizations, hockey, concerts, and community events. About 256 volunteers fought the flames in freezing weather, saving some area, while the building’s destruction deprives Hibbing and Keewatin of a central venue and memory.
