Work began Monday on 350 feet of docks at the Black River mouth in the county park. CCC enrollees from Camp Nor Vie under U.S. Forest Service supervision will build timber cribbing docks filled with rock with a 12 foot deck on the south bank and soon a bridge to the north bank may follow.

Lawrence Apitz of Bessemer, athletic director and football coach at the University of Louisville, has had his contract renewed for five years at the Kentucky school with a salary increase. Apitz joined Louisville in 1936 after serving under A. A. Stagg at Chicago and the College of the Pacific, and is noted for his work in Bessemer and Chicago U. His Louisville team last fall leaned toward sophomores, expected to build for 1938.

The Works Progress Administration aims to deliver its December payroll of 2,2550,000 to WPA workers before Christmas. Louis M. Mrs Charles Babicky Pioneer Passes in Bessemer
Mrs. Charles Babicky a longtime Bessemer resident died at 2 45 pm Tuesday at age 75 after frail health. Born Frances Petranek in Prague in 1882 she came to the United States in 1909 and to Bessemer in 191? with her husband. Surviving are four daughters three sons a daughter in law and 27 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at St Sebastian Catholic Church with burial in the local cemetery.
