The Black River harbor refuge near Bessemer faces a war time funding gate. Army engineers may report soon on its defense merit while Senate House conferees weigh criteria for new projects. The harbor would shelter ships between Ontonagon Michigan and Ashland Wisconsin and would be 10 feet deep.

Aubery Ila Severn Marion Averitt and Lillian Derpa Funeral services were held August 30 in Chicago with burial at Rosehill She was a former resident of Bessemer.

A Golden Wedding Anniversary was observed last Saturday by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Zawicki of Bessemer. The event at the VFW clubrooms featured refreshments dancing and a mock wedding. The couple born in Stevens Point Wis and Russian Poland respectively have eight sons four daughters fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Guests from many states attended including relatives from Wisconsin Michigan Minnesota Illinois and beyond.

Township Pioneer Succumbs Friday
Mrs. Andrew Webber of Bessemer Township died Friday at her Iron ton home after a long heart ailment. She was 76, born in Notre Dame Bay Newfoundland, married Andrew Webber in 1867, moved to Ironton in 1906, survived by seven sons, four daughters, and 15 grandchildren. Funeral at C. W. Moore Funeral Home with Rev. R. J. Larsen. burial in Hillcrest.

Wroblewski Burial Held At St Sebastian Church
Mrs. Wroblewski buried Saturday in Hillcrest cemetery after funeral at St Sebastian church officiated by Rev C J Swoboda.
