Soccer replaces touch football as fall sport in Pittsfield schools
Pittsfield public elementary schools will switch from touch football to soccer as the official fall sport for Grades 5 and 6. The change, approved by the athletic and physical education subcommittee, takes effect soon after the school superintendent issues the order. Subcommittee chairman John J. Quinn cited soccer’s training value and the high school varsity adoption as reasons, with Superintendent James P. Reynolds backing the move.
