Wills Sparks Dodgers To 7-6 Win Over Braves

Maury Wills stole three bases and scoring after each theft, driving in the winning run on Lou Johnson's single in the 11th as Los Angeles beat Milwaukee 7-6. The Dodgers extended their streak to six and narrowed the gap to the Giants while Sandy Koufax started shaky and Marichal allowed multiple homers.

Orioles Narrow Twins Lead But Still 3 Away

The Baltimore Orioles beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 to keep the magic pennant number at three. Twins manager Sam Mele noted prior attempts to clinch have failed, while Hank Bauer said the Orioles remain in contention. Other scores: White Sox edged Detroit 2-1, Cleveland beat the Yankees 4-3, Washington defeated Kansas City 5-2, and California swept a doubleheader from Boston.

Attendance Increases At Berkshire Downs Fair Meet

Berkshire Downs attendance rose over the first two days of the six day Berkshire County Fair racing meet with 2,745 spectators and a $164,849 handle, the best of the three days. Jockey Gary Steineman earned his second win aboard Bruce Queen in race five as Jet Falcon and Set the Hair produced a $74.80 daily double. Miss Ham Bone, ridden by Jerry Parenti, paid $25.40, $11.80 and $4.40 in a standout finish.

Army Air Force Soccer at Stagg on Nov 6

Army and Air Force to meet at Soldier Field in football on the same date while the Army Air Force soccer game is set for Stagg Field University of Chicago as the site on November 6.

Mrs Goodrich and Mrs Williams Win at C C of P

Mrs Schuyler Good rich and Mrs W Anderson Williams won the 18 hole sweepstakes at the Country Club of Pittsfield with a net 82. Other finishers included Mrs Britton Saterlee with Mrs Henry Foss at 83 and two more teams. Nine hole division results followed with ties and close scores. Also noted is Michigan’s Big Ten champion basketball team touring Egypt, Turkey, Greece and Algeria this summer.

Committee Approves Tennis Club at Pittsfield High

The School Board's athletics subcommittee voted to let Pittsfield High students form a tennis club and practice at North South and Crosby junior high courts. They will wait a year before deciding if tennis becomes a varsity sport at PHS. The panel also asked for 1964-65 financial reports and current-year budgets to shape the 1966-67 athletic budget.
