Precedent claimed as ex-Attorney General barred in Chicago 7 case
Judge Julius Hoffman barred Ramsey Clark, former U.S. attorney general, from testifying for the defense in the Chicago conspiracy trial. The ruling drew criticism from defense attorney William Kunstler and law professors who called it highly unusual. The seven defendants are charged with conspiracy to incite a riot at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
